Henry's Angels brighten Kings Street shop
31/08/2012 15:01:05

A TEAM of office workers swapped their pens for paintbrushes to give one of our charity shops a make-over.

Henry?s Angels ? a troupe of volunteers from Henry Schein in Gillingham? took time out of their busy schedules to give Gravesend?s Kings Street store a face life.

Armed with paint pots and oodles of enthusiasm, the dedicated team set to work on Thursday 23 August.

The Angels brightened the walls with lashings of white emulsion and gave the woodwork a beautiful glossy finish.

The team brought in donations of pre-loved clothes, household items and other goodies, to be sold in the shop.

All of the materials were also paid for donations raised by the Angels at a car-wash project held at a local car wash centre in July.

EllenorLions Hospices Regional Retail Manager Tim Stewart, said: ?The shop looks fantastic. We are so grateful to Henry?s Angels for supplying the materials and giving up their time to give it a make-over.

?Our shops provide a vital source of income. Our Kings Street shop is run entirely by volunteers and we rely on donations of clothes, furniture and other goods from the public. If you are having a clear out at home, please remember EllenorLions.?

Henry?s Angels was formed in January 2011 with the goal of providing Henry Schein employees an opportunity to help local causes in practical ways.

It is not the first time the Angels have given up their time to help EllenorLions Hospices.

Last year they painted another shop, decorated a young patient?s bedroom and helped to brighten up the gardens at our bedded hospice in Northfleet.

The Angels believe that ?time is the most valuable commodity they can give and together they can make a big difference.?

Lynsey van Wyk from Henry Schein led the team of eight Angels for the day.

She said: ?Henry?s Angels will continue to support EllenorLions Hospices and chYps for as long as we can. It?s such a worthwhile cause and helping in this way, gives all our volunteers a chance to feel they?ve helped out and really been a part of something.?

EllenorLions Hospices cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses in the areas of Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley, either in the patients? home or in our bedded hospice in Northfleet.
